Boston Bruins White House visit (re: Tim Thomas)
« on: January 23, 2012, 11:16:36 PM »
Typically I don't like to dredge up political discussion on a forum that is specifically for sports, but in this case I'll make the exception seeing as how Tim Thomas just lost a huge amount of respect from me for his actions (or inaction actually) today.

Many of you know me as a registered (D), and while I am that, I'm really more of a social liberal and fiscal conservative.  Oklahoma's closed primary laws are asinine.

I also am not currently a huge supporter of our sitting President, but realize he has tough decisions, as every President before him has had.

But to be conspicuously absent from the White House gathering from the Bruins, IMO, disrespects the office.  You can not like your President, and that's you're prerogative.  But when he summons you to the White House for the reason he did, put disagreements and political agendas aside, and celebrate what you were there to celebrate.

Your teammates did.
